Applications are invited for filing up of temporary project positions for various programmes such as Database, Ecosystem Modeling, Prediction of water quality and Training purely on project mode in the ICMAM Project Directorate, Chennai, a R & D unit of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) initially for a period of one year extendable further based on performance as per details given below:

COASTAL PROCESSES AND SHORELINE MAPPING
1. Project Scientist – I 3 Nos
Positions : 

• Physical Oceanography & Shoreline Mapping (2 Nos.)
• Database Development & Web Applications for Shoreline Change (1 No.)

Age Limit : 35 years
Essential Qualification:

• Master’s Degree or equivalent in Oceanography / Marine Science / Earth Sciences / Physics / Mathematics / Geology / Environmental Science / Remote Sensing / Computer Science / MCA / related subjects or B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil Engineering / Geo-informatics or related subject from a recognized university with at least first class (60%) at essential level.  AND  Two years research experience in the field of Coastal Oceanography / Coastal Process Modelling / Oceanographic measurement / Shoreline studies / Hydrodynamic data analysis / Marine data base and familiarity with Coastal Process Models / Image Processing GIS Software / Web applications in the relevant field.  OR
• M.Tech degree in Remote Sensing/Coastal/Ocean Engineering related subject and one year research experience in relevant field as per (i) above familiarity with Coastal Measurement/Coastal Process Models/Image processing GIS Software/Web applications in the relevant field.

 2. Project Scientist – II 2 Nos

Position :

• Coastal Hydrodynamics & Sediment Transport related studies

Age Limit : 40 years
Essential Qualifications : 

• Masters Degree or equivalent in Oceanography / Marine Science / Earth Sciences / Physics / Mathematics / Geology or related subject from a recognized university with at least first class  (60%) at Post Graduation level. AND Three years research experience in the field of Coastal Oceanography / Coastal Process Modeling / Sediment transport / Shoreline studies / Hydrodynamic data analysis / Marine data base and familiarity with Coastal Process Models / Image processing GIS Software / Web applications in the relevant field. OR
• M.Tech. degree in Remote Sensing / Coastal / Ocean Engineering related subject and tow years research experience in the relevant field as per (i) above familiarity with Coastal Process Models / Image Processing GIS Software / Web applications in the relevant field. OR
• Ph.D. in the relevant field as per (i) familiarity with Coastal Process Models / Image Processing GIS Software / Web applications in the relevant field.

Desirable : Familiar with coastal process modeling using MIKE-21/DELFT-3D/ADCIRC/ROMS/ SWAN etc., or Remote Sensing / GIS application in Shoreline changes and coastal studies.
II. PREDICTION OF WATER QUALITY
3. Project Scientist I – 1 No

• Age Limit: 35 years
• Essential Qualification: 1st class M.Sc. (60%) in Marine Sciences or Marine Chemistry or equivalent.
• Experience: Research experience of having 2 years in marine chemistry, marine Biogeochemistry related field.

4. Junior Research Fellow – 1 No

• Essential Qualification : 1st class M.Sc. Marine Sciences / Oceanography or Marine Biology or equivalent.

5. Project Scientist I – 2 Nos

• Age Limit: 35 years
• Essential Qualification : First class Masters degree (60%) in Oceanography / Physics/ Geology/ Geography / environmental sciences / marine science / Remote Sensing / GIS or B.E/B.Tech. in Geoinformatics/ Civil Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent from recognized University or M.Tech degree in any of the above discipline.
• Experience : At least 2 years experience for B.E., B.Tech. and M.Sc. candidates and 1 year experience for M.Tech candidates in the field of Image processing, GIS analysis and Numerical modeling specially with respect to coastal hazards, vulnerability mapping, coastal zone management studies and applications.

IV. ECOSYSTEM MODELLING 
6. Project Scientist I: 1 No

• Position : Marine Biology
• Age Limit: 35 years
• Essential Qualification: First Class M.Sc. (60%) in Marine Sciences or Oceanography or Marine biology or Microbiology or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years research experience in the subject of Marine Biology related to phytoplankton and zoo plankton studies.

V. DATABASE
7. Project Scientist-I: 1 No

• Position: Database
• Age Limit: 35 years
• Essential Qualification: First Class Master’s degree (60%)in Marine Biology or Marine Sciences or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years experience relating to statistical analysis of coastal water quality (chemical, biological and microbiological) data and assessment etc.
